Auto-Translation

Person Trail can automatically translate job messages between languages so your crew members read messages in their preferred language. This feature is available on the Trailblazer plan.

How It Works

When a message is sent in a per-job conversation:

1. The system detects the message language automatically
2. If the message is not in English, it is translated to English and stored alongside the original
3. If a crew member has a preferred language set, messages are also translated into that language

The original message is always preserved. Translations are stored as translatedBody on the message, with the detected language recorded as detectedLanguage.

Setting a Preferred Language

Each crew member can have a preferredLanguage set on their profile. When set, incoming English messages are automatically translated to that language in their view.

To set a preferred language:

1. Go to Dashboard > Contractors and select the crew member
2. Set the Preferred Language field (ISO 639-1 code, e.g., "es" for Spanish)

Privacy and Data

Translations are powered by Groq (Llama 3.3 70B) with zero data retention. Message content is processed in real time and not stored by the AI provider. Only the translation result is saved in your database.

Availability

Auto-translation is a Trailblazer plan feature. It applies to all per-job messages within your organization. Translation usage counts toward your daily AI quota.
